Accident Compensation Commission (ACC)
If you’ve had an accident or injury anywhere across the Horowhenua – Levin, Foxton, Shannon and surrounding communities – you may be covered by ACC.
The Accident Compensation Corporation (ACC) is a New Zealand government organisation that helps cover the cost of treatment for accidental injuries. This means if you hurt yourself at home, at work, playing sport, or out and about, ACC may help contribute towards your care.
ACC can assist with:
GP and nurse consultations related to your injury
X-rays and other investigations
Physiotherapy and rehabilitation
Support at home if needed
Help with lost income in certain situations
ACC covers many physical injuries such as sprains, fractures, cuts, burns, and bruising. It can also cover some work-related gradual process injuries (for example, tendonitis or strain injuries developed over time at work).
ACC does not cover general illnesses (like colds or infections), age-related conditions, non-work gradual process injuries, or most mental health conditions unless directly related to a covered injury.
If you’re unsure whether your injury is covered, please talk with one of our clinicians — we’re here to guide you through the process and make it as straightforward as possible.
Please note: ACC contributes towards the cost of your treatment, but it does not cover the full fee. There is usually a patient surcharge to help cover the remaining cost.
If you have any questions about ACC or your injury, our team is happy to help.
