Minor Surgery / Liquid Nitrogen
Our Minor Surgical Team provides a range of small, in-clinic procedures, including punch biopsies and the removal of small skin lesions.
Skin Biopsy
A skin biopsy is performed to take a small sample of a rash or skin lesion. The sample is sent to the laboratory where it is examined under a microscope using specialised staining techniques. This helps confirm a diagnosis and guide treatment.
The types of biopsy we may perform include:
Excision biopsy – A small incision is made to remove either part of a lesion or the entire lesion.
Punch biopsy – A small circular instrument is used to remove a tiny disc of skin.
Shave biopsy – A superficial layer of skin is shaved off, commonly used for raised lesions such as skin tags.
Liquid Nitrogen (Cryotherapy)
Liquid nitrogen is a commonly used and effective treatment that freezes and destroys certain benign (non-cancerous) skin lesions.
It may be used to treat:
Actinic keratoses
Seborrhoeic keratoses
Viral warts
Molluscum contagiosum
Skin tags
