As a General Practitioner with many years of experience in family medicine, I am passionate about providing care that is both clinically excellent and genuinely compassionate. Every patient brings a unique story, and I believe the key to effective healthcare lies in listening carefully, understanding their concerns, and working together to create realistic and meaningful care plans.

At Levin Family Health, I am proud to help lead a practice that values trust, respect, and teamwork. My special interests include chronic disease management, men’s health, and acute care — areas where continuity, empathy, and sound medical judgement can make a lasting difference.

Beyond patient consultations, my focus is on mentoring our staff and ensuring that our systems and culture support the highest standards of care. By encouraging collaboration and continuous improvement, we aim to make Levin Family Health not just a medical centre, but a community where both patients and staff feel valued, supported, and inspired to thrive.

For over thirty years, I’ve had the privilege of living and working within this wonderful community—a connection that continues to inspire and shape my practice. My approach to healthcare is grounded in partnership: walking alongside patients, supporting them to understand their health, and empowering them to make meaningful changes that improve their wellbeing.

I’m fortunate to work with a dedicated team that shares my commitment to honesty, integrity, and compassionate care. Together, we strive to deliver healthcare that is transparent, respectful, and focused on achieving the best outcomes for every individual.

Being part of this community allows me to understand the unique challenges our patients face and provide care that is both personal and practical. I’m deeply passionate about helping people navigate their health journeys with confidence, ensuring they feel heard, supported, and valued.

William Barnett

Practice Manager / Consultant

“He mahi hauora taku, he mahi aroha ki te tangata, ki te whānau, ki te hapori.”
My work in healthcare is grounded in care for people, whānau, and community.

With over 12 years of nursing experience across emergency care, general practice, and community health, I’ve learned that the most important part of healthcare is people. Much of my learning has come not only from formal training, but from listening, supporting whānau, and working alongside dedicated colleagues.

I currently work as Practice Manager at Levin Family Health, where I combine my clinical background with day-to-day leadership and operational oversight. This dual role allows me to keep patient care at the centre of everything we do — from how our services are designed, to how our team is supported to grow and thrive.

I’m passionate about creating a welcoming, culturally safe environment where patients feel cared for and staff feel valued. By blending practical experience, compassionate care, and strong teamwork, I’m proud to contribute to the health and wellbeing of the Horowhenua community.

Vicky McCosh

2IC to Practice Manager / Accounts

In 2018, my husband and I relocated from Wairarapa to Horowhenua to be closer to our children and grandchildren — a move that has been truly rewarding. I’ve spent much of my adult life in customer service and business management, developing a genuine passion for helping people and creating positive experiences.

I strongly believe in treating others the way you would like to be treated. At Levin Family Health, I’m proud to work in a team that upholds respect, kindness, and empathy in all we do. As Manager’s Assistant and 2IC, I help oversee daily operations and staff support, while also managing our accounts and financial processes to ensure smooth and efficient practice management.

It’s a privilege to be part of a workplace that not only cares for people when they’re unwell but also works together to make a lasting difference in the health and wellbeing of our community.

Grace Baxter

Registered Nurse

Born and raised in the Hutt Valley, my career journey has been anything but traditional. Unsure of my direction early on, I set off overseas for six adventurous years, making South Yorkshire, England, my home base. During that time, I earned a National Diploma in Animal Care and worked as a veterinary nurse — a role that deepened my love for caring and connection.

Eventually, homesickness brought me back to New Zealand seven years ago, where a new chapter began. I joined Mash Trust as a community support worker and discovered my true passion — caring for people. That experience inspired me to study nursing at UCOL in Palmerston North, where I proudly graduated in December 2022.

As the only graduate from my class to enter primary care, I’ve embraced this rewarding path wholeheartedly. Now, as a Practice Nurse at Levin Family Health, I feel privileged to be part of such a compassionate and dedicated team.

I’m excited to continue growing within this community I now call home — and hope, in time, to become part of the furniture at Levin Family Health!

Abigail Palmer

Registered Nurse

I was born and raised in Levin, where I attended school and college before beginning my nursing career shortly after graduation. I’m a Registered Nurse with over 10 years of experience across a variety of healthcare settings. Since 2012, I’ve worked in Orthopaedics, Surgical Care, and Interventional Radiology, spending a decade at Palmerston North Hospital.

For the past two years, I’ve been working in primary health care — a role that has strengthened my passion for providing consistent, compassionate care and building meaningful relationships with patients and their whānau. I have a particular interest in Acute Care management, where I enjoy using my clinical skills to assess, stabilise, and support patients through urgent or complex health needs.

Outside of work, I’m a proud mum to a lively 5-year-old son who keeps me on my toes and reminds me daily of the importance of balance, empathy, and joy.

Kimiora

With nearly 50 years of nursing experience, I bring a caring, compassionate approach to every person I work with. My journey in healthcare began in 1977, and over the years I’ve supported people in many different settings, including maternity, surgical wards, and outpatient care. This has given me a strong foundation and a deep understanding of how to care for people at every stage of life.

For the past 15 years, I have worked within a general practice team, providing care that is focused on the needs of the community. At Kimiora, I feel privileged to support people in their own homes, offering care that looks at the whole person — their health, their culture, and what matters most to them.

I believe nursing is about building trust and strong relationships. I aim to support people to stay as independent as possible, while making sure they feel safe, respected, and truly listened to.
